When the tree is completed, the whole wax structure is placed in a flask with a special kind of liquid plaster. The cylinder is then put into the oven, where the whole wax structure will be burnt away, leaving lots of jewelry-shaped void in the hardened plaster mould. The space is then filled with molten metal. Once the metal hardens, the mould is put into a bucket of cold water to dissolve the plaster, leaving the hardened metal tree and jewelry pieces. Individual pieces are separated from the tree and sent for finishing.
